Z4 - An Expression Of Joy

Early this morning, BMW released details of the much anticipated new Z4. With the slogan 'An Expression Of Joy' you could be forgiven for being sceptical, but after a look over the images released by BMW all becomes clear.

The new design merges the old Z4 Roadster and Z4 Coupe with it's retractable hardtop. The sharp creases of the old Z4 have been replaced with more subtle lines, but the impact is still there. At launch, BMW will offer three models, a 2.3L, a 3.0L and a 3.5L. All engines in the range will be a straight six configuration with the 3.5L version kicking out 306 HP. Most of the released images show the Z4 in Orion Silver, however, the wallpapers on the BMW website show the Z4 in the much nicer Deep Sea Blue.

With the entry level model starting at around £28,600 OTR, the new Z4 offers a lot of poke for your pound. The 3.0L and 3.5L versions should give the Porsche Boxsters and Caymans a run for their money in both cost and performance and the aggressive styling should leave them cowering in their Pirelli's.

We will have to wait until next year to find out how it drives, but if it is half as good as it looks, we are in for a treat. If you want a preview of the Z4 before it hits your showrooms, BMW will be unveiling it at the Detroit Motorshow next month.

£150,000 number Plate for Ronaldo

Private number plates are now more popular than ever before. Mostly they are becoming more and more affordable, with prices ranging from £250, however, there are some exceptions to this rule.

Christiano Ronaldo has recently purchased CR7 for his aston martin for £150,000. Ronaldo has decided for his initials CR and his shirt number 7, and it is pleasing to see that in true Manchester United number 7 style he is extravagantly spending his "hard earned" money on cars! David Beckham would be proud.

Now it may only be a week and a halves wages for the talented portuguese winger, but it is still a large chunk of money on a number plate. Infact probably doubled the value of his Aston martin.

Motoring slow down, saves money

An AA report has shown that people are finally slowing down on the roads. However, it has nothing to do with camera's or fines; it's to do with the cost of fuel.

Drivers are able to save up to 6p a litre, by slowing down and gaining an extra 3MPG.

An AA spokesman said:

“For most motorists – particularly families on a budget – fuel has become a much more convincing argument to slow down than the threat of a speed camera,”

Want to drive a really quick car, but don't have a spare £100,000+ tucked down the back of the sofa? You may want to consider a supercar experience like the ones run at Thruxton Motorsport Centre. A supercar experience is an affordable way to get to drive some of the most powerful cars available, in the environment they were designed for, the track!

JustCarsOnline decided to pop down to Thruxton for the day to see what it is all about.
